Description Pseudoephedrine exhibits both direct and indirect sympathomimetic activity and acts on the upper respiratory tract. It stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors in the respiratory mucosa, producing vasoconstriction. This action reduces swelling of mucous membranes, decreases tissue hyperemia, oedema and nasal congestion, and improves airway patency. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) provides analgesic and antipyretic effects with minimal anti-inflammatory activity. It is indicated for temporary relief of minor aches and pains related to the common cold, headache, and for reducing fever. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine indicated for relief of common cold symptoms, cough, itchy throat and skin, allergy, kidney stones, acidity, hay fever, rhinitis, food allergies and runny nose.
