Voligel 50G Description Diclofenac Sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. It also has uricosuric effects. The medication works by blocking prostaglandin production, which plays a central role in causing inflammation, pain, and fever. Diclofenac is absorbed quickly and completely from the gastrointestinal tract when taken with or after food. Peak plasma levels are reached approximately 2 hours after administration. At therapeutic doses, it is 99.7% bound to plasma proteins. The drug undergoes metabolism in the liver, including a first-pass effect. Indications Rheumatology: Inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic conditions including chronic involutive rheumatism, polyarthritis, ankylosing spondylarthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylarthritis, acute gout, and peri-articular rheumatic diseases. Surgery and Traumatology: Sprains, bruises, dislocations, fractures, soft tissue injuries, and post-surgical recovery. Obstetrics and Gynecology: Primary dysmenorrhoea, episiotomy, adnexitis, endometritis, parametritis, salpingitis, and mastitis. Otorhinolaryngology: Pre-operative use to help prevent pain, inflammation, and swelling. Dentistry: Post-operative and post-traumatic pain, inflammation, and swelling. Other indications: Prevention of pain and management of inflammation and swelling following urogenital tract surgery, as well as renal and biliary colic.
