Zentel 400 mg Tablets 1s **Description** Zentel is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd and contains Albendazole, an agent used in the management of conditions caused by parasitic worm infestations. This antiparasitic medication is indicated for infections due to tapeworms, including hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis, which involve the brain and muscles. It is also used for pinworm disease, giardiasis, intestinal hydatid disease, ascariasis, and filariasis affecting the lymph nodes. As an anthelmintic, Zentel works by targeting parasites with minimal impact on the host. The sulfoxide metabolite of Albendazole causes degeneration of cytoplasmic microtubules and tegmental cells in the parasite. This depletes the parasite's energy reserves and disrupts metabolic processes, leading to parasite death. **How to use** Take this tablet on an empty stomach, or with food if specifically directed. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. In certain cases, a doctor may prescribe Zentel together with other medicines such as corticosteroids, which help reduce pressure on the skull during the first week of treatment for neurocysticercosis. Patients with known hypersensitivity to Albendazole or other benzimidazoles should not use this medication and should seek immediate medical attention if a reaction occurs.
